TIFFE extends the Evening Session temporarily

(Oct 19, 1998)

The Tokyo International Financial Futures Exchange (TIFFE) can change its trading hours temporarily if necessary under the Rule of Trading and Clearing Regulations 5-4.
TIFFE currently changes its trading hours on the day BOJ (Bank Of Japan)'s "Tankan" and MITI (Ministry of International Trade and Industry)'s Preliminary Report on Indices of Industrial Production are published.
This time, TIFFE has decided to extend the evening trading hours temporarily on the following conditions:

  1. Criterion for extending the evening session

TIFFE extends the evening trading hours when BOJ's Policy Board Decision, etc. which may significantly impact a financial market, is scheduled to be announced during or after the regular evening session.
  2. Extended Trading Hours/ Contracts

The ending time of evening session is changed to 20:00 (normally 18:00),while the starting time of the evening session (15:40) is unchanged. This change applies to all contracts listed on TIFFE.
  3. Notification to members

TIFFE notifies members of the change by sending messages on the screen of a trading terminal and sending FAX to members during 15:30 - 15:40. TIFFE also notifies investors through information vendors.
  4. Effective date

This change will take effect as from Oct 20.1998.
  5. Note

Trading statements to our members are sent on the regular time (around 18:10) if the evening session is extended.
